Technical Talk on “Enhancing FPGA Based Machine Learning” on 17th June 2023 by IEEE Student Branch. Dr. Luca Di Nunzio provided an overview of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), highlighting their role as cutting-edge technology for machine learning applications. He emphasized the advantages of FPGAs in machine learning, particularly their low power consumption, high computational performance, and reconfigurability. Dr. Di Nunzio also discussed the pros and cons of FPGA-based machine learning algorithms. He thoroughly explained the design flow phases, including directives, constraints, and RTL generation. A live example of an FPGA model used in an Italian spacecraft was also demonstrated. Dr. Parameshachari B.D., Co-Chair of IEEE ITS, Bengaluru Section, NMIT Bengaluru, presented the key benefits of IEEE membership and praised the BITM IEEE branch for its active involvement in organizing technical events in collaboration with IEEE. He also highlighted scholarship opportunities from IEEE for economically disadvantaged students.
