The Physics Department provides a foundational course essential for students across all engineering streams. Supported by a team of highly qualified and dedicated faculty, including 5+ PhD holders specializing in various fields of physics, the department combines expert teaching with strong research capabilities, fostering an impactful learning experience.
Comprising teaching and non-teaching faculty members, the department has an excellent record of academic results, consistently achieving a pass rate of over 90% since its inception. Faculty members actively contribute to the field through research, regularly publishing papers in renowned national and international journals.

Message from HOD
Dr. Machappa T, M.Sc., Ph.D., Professor & Head of the department of Physics, obtained his Master’s degree in Physics with second rank & Ph.D., in Physics from Gulbarga University for the research work on conducting polymer composites for sensor studies. He has joined the organization in the year 1997 as a lecturer, established well-equipped engineering Physics lab and served at various positions from lecturer to professor & HOD. He has put 28 years of teaching with passion towards teaching both theoretical and practical Physics.
He has 15 years of research experience in Physics, published 39 research papers in peer reviewed International Journals and presented many research articles in International and National conferences. He has 17 years of experience in the implementation of quality management system ISO 9001, a lead auditor and resource person in the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 QMS. He is a recognized as research guide from VTU and two research scholars are awarded Ph.D. under his guidance. He is dedicated, resourceful, goal-driven professional educator with a solid commitment to the social, academic growth and all-round development of students. As a head of the department, he has Exceptional ability to establish cooperative, professional relationships with students, parents, faculty and administration.
