The Department of Civil Engineering at Ballari Institute of Technology and Management (BITM) started in the year 2014 and provides comprehensive research, teaching, and learning opportunities across the diverse fields of civil engineering. Focused on design and drawing of structures, construction industry, railway, airport and tunnel engineering, PWD sector, the department prepares students for a broad range of careers.
We offer undergraduate and doctoral programs that integrate hands-on learning with theoretical insights, equipping students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in construction industries. The department is dedicated to fostering future engineers and leaders who are ready to address the challenges and innovations of the field of civil engineering.
The department has state-of-the-art Laboratory facilities, concrete and highway material testing, advanced surveying, geotechnical engineering, building material testing, geology, computer aided design and drawing, environmental engineering and fluid mechanic laboratories. Our highly qualified faculty members are committed to expanding knowledge across the many areas of civil engineering and applying it to solve real-world cutting edge challenges. Our research and educational programs prioritize the development of advanced, economical, reliable, and environmentally friendly construction techniques, preparing students to make meaningful contributions to the construction industry and society. Message from HOD
The Civil Engineering is a broad field of engineering which involves planning, construction, maintenance and management of fixed structures or public works as they are related to earth, water or civilization and their processes.
The Civil Engineering deals with the construction and maintenance of buildings, bridges, roads, railways, structures, water supply & sewer, Irrigation, power & environment. Students will learn about flood control, Alternate Building materials, green buildings, structural health monitoring, Transportation engineering, etc. It also teaches safety and fire practices in projects. The Civil Engineering Department of BITM aims at developing analytical and experimental skills in students to apply in various fields of Civil Engineering using National and International codes.
The department also provides an opportunity for students in improving supervision, communication and presentation skills, knowledge of software like Auto CADD, Cype, Stadd pro, E-survey, Sketch up Pro etc. Student will have frequent site/field visits/ live projects to gain practical knowledge and understanding of field constraints. The Civil Department has well-qualified teaching faculties with industrial experience who are enthusiastic in imparting quality teaching to the students. The emphasis is laid on the proper understanding of the fundamentals of the subjects through animation, video clips, and case studies. It has well-equipped laboratories, computational facilities, modern classrooms and provides a good environment for learning. Many senior faculty members are also engaged in research and consultancy projects which benefit the students for active learning.
