The Department has been recognized as Research Centre under Vishveshvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The thrust area of research is Synthesis, characterization of biologically important heterocyclic molecules and their metal complexes. It also involves studies on evaluation of physico-chemical properties, biological activity, drug-protein/DNA interaction, catalytic application and synthesis of polymers for ion exchange properties. The research Centre is equipped with basic instruments. At present three students are perusing Ph.D.
